Small farm focused on sustainably grown and ethically raised food.
Our fully fenced, 10 acre property has both cultivated land and natural woods which creates the perfect space for children to unplug and connect with nature in multiple settings. Unique programs offer a learning experience which encourages team work, engages the body, and builds self esteem while emphasizing respect for the natural world and each other. Most importantly, we maintain an inclusive and safe space for kids to be kids and just have fun.
Our summer programs offer an outdoor, screen-free, and inclusive space for your child’s summer vacation. We provide a naturally wild environment for children to climb trees, engage with animals, get dirty, unleash their creativity, work hard, forge new friendships and simply play. Each week is themed to resonate with diverse interests and to ensure an enriching experience for our campers who spend the summer with us. All planned activities are optional and adaptable to suit the group.
June 9th - 13th
Join us for our first camp of the year! We will work in the gardens, explore the back woods and play games. Children may suit up to visit the bee hives and collect honey, learn to grow micro-greens, explore the pond to catch tadpoles, and learn to walk on stilts.
June 16th - 20th
The Goodness Cooks duo, Cordon McGee and Lizzie Jacobs, will be bringing their cooking, kitchen, and nutrition wisdom to the farm this week. Lizzie and Cordon run a small local business that serves up fresh, local, organic meals in their downtown Chapel Hill kitchen. Campers will learn prep skills, how to create flavors, kitchen composting and more, while making delicious food with farm-grown ingredients.
June 23rd - 27th
This week we’ll create unique pieces of art with materials from the farm! Campers can get dirty digging up and processing native clay then see this material transform into pottery which we will fire at the farm. We’ll also harvest plants for dyeing, learn to whittle, and weave a willow basket.
July 14th - 18th
A second offering of our classic farm camp offering. We will work in the gardens, explore the back woods and play games. Children will milk the goats to make ice cream, start a mini herb garden for their family, explore the pond to catch frogs, and learn to walk on stilts.
July 21st -25th
This week we will dive into the process of growing food—from soil prep and seed starting, to harvesting and cooking. We’ll snack on fresh sunflower seeds, pick lots of flowers, plant corn, seed lettuce, muck out the barns, mulch the gardens, pull weeds and more! On Friday we will make quesadillas in the solar oven with fresh salsa and salad from the garden. Campers may also make goat milk soap to take home and share with their family.
July 28th - August 1st
Save up your cardboard and newspaper for this week! Campers will learn paper mâché by recycling paper waste and turning it into art. The group will be lightly guided as they craft their own mask, animal figure, and piñata. We will also experiment with natural dyes to color the creations. Children 9 years and older may try their hand at whittling and wood burning.
August 4th - 8th
We’ll be staying cool in the back woods this week! In addition to playing games like hide-and-seek and capture the flag, we’ll dedicate our efforts to building a fort in the forest playground. Construction projects are naturally appealing to children and provide an opportunity for many types of learning. The group will both help design the structure and build it. Children will learn to correctly use a measuring tape, square, hammer, hand saw, electric sander and hand drill as we assemble this new addition. Anyone determined enough to cut their own wood may also build a pair of stilts to take home or a bench. In addition to woodworking, we will sew and assemble targets, and children may try their hand at archery.
Each camp day runs from 8:00 to 4:00.
$300 per week or $65 per day
Extended care is available for $10/day for each hour.
Younger siblings of ages 4-5 may be accepted. Please contact us before registering to discuss this option.
This option creates a space for children who are too young for traditional jobs but are ready to do a little more than the younger campers. The responsibilities will be age appropriate and should help them learn about their interests and strengths in a supportive environment to boost their self esteem and build their independence. Children may be asked to lead activities, perform extra farm chores and clean up after crafts, play games with campers, and more. After their first week, CITs may earn daily refunds in their camp tuition by fulfilling these responsibilities.
This program is $50 per day and is available for all summer camps.
Please contact us before registering to discuss this option.
